Job summary

Pivot Rehabilitation in Port Arthur, TX is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) for PRN coverage. The OTA provides coordinated therapy under the supervision of a licensed OT, supports patients of all ages, and assists in care coordination and documentation.

Qualified applicants hold an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy, an active OTA license, CPR certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OTA program with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Active state OTA license.
• Current driver’s license.
• One year of experience as an OTA preferred.
• CPR certification (current).
• Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides services ordered by the physician as in the plan of care, supervised by the OT.
• Facilitates ROM, strength, coordination, adaptive equipment use, mobility, and safety for ADL under OT supervision.
• Applies infection control and standard precautions while coordinating patient care.
• Accepts clinical assignments within education and competence.
• Uses interpersonal skills to educate patients and caregivers.
• Promotes compliance with third-party payors through education and assistance.
• Demonstrates commitment, growth, and competency.
• Participates in the agency's QAPI program.
• Meets mandatory continuing education requirements and attends in-service trainings.

A Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides coordinated occupational therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. Participates in the coordination of care.

Essential functions

• Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated, and supervised by the Occupational Therapist (OT). Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
• Facilitates patients’ ROM, strength, coordination, use of adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, functional mobility, and safety issues as related to patients’ ADL performance under the supervision of the OT.
• Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating and performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
• Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
• Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient and caregiver education.
• Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance, as necessary.
• Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
• Participates in the Agency’s QAPI program.
• Meets mandatory continuing education requirements; participates in the Agency sponsored in-service trainings.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program of occupational therapist assistant with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Active, state license as an occupational therapist assistant.
• Current driver’s license.
• One year of experience as an occupational therapist assistant, preferred.
• Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Proof of current CPR certification.
• Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.
