Job summary

Pivot is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant in Port Arthur, TX to provide coordinated therapy under the supervision of a licensed OT. You will assist with ROM, ADL training, documentation, and safety while ensuring high-quality patient care.

In this role, you will engage in infection control, patient education, and ongoing professional development, supporting QAPI initiatives and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OTA program with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Active, state license as an occupational therapist assistant.
• Current driver’s license.
• One year of experience as an OTA, preferred.
• CPR certification.
• Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides services ordered by the physician under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist (OT) and completes documentation timely.
• Facilitates patients’ ROM, strength, coordination, use of adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, functional mobility, and safety in ADL performance under OT supervision.
• Applies infection control and standard precautions in patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
• Accepts clinical assignments within education and competence.
• Uses effective interpersonal relations to educate patients and caregivers.
• Promotes compliance with third‑party payors through education and coaching as needed.
• Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
• Participates in the Agency’s QAPI program.
• Meets mandatory continuing education requirements and participates in in‑service trainings.

A Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides coordinated occupational therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. Participates in the coordination of care.

Essential functions

• Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated, and supervised by the Occupational Therapist (OT). Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
• Facilitates patients’ ROM, strength, coordination, use of adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, functional mobility, and safety issues as related to patients’ ADL performance under the supervision of the OT.
• Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating and performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
• Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
• Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient and caregiver education.
• Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance, as necessary.
• Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
• Participates in the Agency’s QAPI program.
• Meets mandatory continuing education requirements; participates in the Agency sponsored in-service trainings.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program of occupational therapist assistant with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.

• Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
