Job summary

Intensive Specialty Hospital in Shreveport, LA, is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant under the direct supervision of a licensed OT to assist with patient assessment, treatment, and family education, and to maintain documentation.

As part of a LTAC setting with multiple locations in the area, you will work with a variety of patients, participate in team conferences, and contribute to rehabilitation and discharge planning while upholding hospital standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Certification by COTA and current state license with renewal as required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English with good verbal and written communication.
• Basic computer skills with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessment and treatment under supervision of licensed OT.
• Deliver home programs, patient and family instructions; participate in conferences.
• Conduction equipment inventory, maintenance, and ordering; document services per hospital standards.

Under direct supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting with patient assessment, treating individual patients, and patient groups; delivering home program, patient, and family instructions; participating in family and team conferences; conduction equipment inventory, maintenance, and orders; and documenting services according to departmental and hospital standards.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program; certification by COTA
• Must hold a current state license and must maintain license renewal in accordance with the State Board of Occupational Therapy
• Long term acute care and rehabilitation experience is preferred;
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English, as well as possess good verbal and written communications skills.
• Basic computer skills with minimal guidance
