Job description

What if your next job invested in the therapist you want to become?

At Adaptive Pediatric Therapy, we believe exceptional care starts with a workplace that does things differently. We're looking for an OT who wants more than a caseload—we're looking for someone who wants to dig deeper, develop specialized skills, and find their professional home.

Whether you're an adult OT ready to make the jump into pediatrics, a new grad looking for the kind of mentorship that sets you up for success, or a pediatric OT ready to dive deeper into feeding and become our next baby whisperer, we want to help you get there. Our two-year residency is all about meeting you where you are and helping you grow into the therapist you could be.

The opportunity

A two-year roadmap to becoming the pediatric feeding therapist you've always wanted to be. You'll work 1:1 with a dedicated mentor who will guide your development, provide intentional feedback, and help you build specialized skills. We're not going to throw you in the deep end and hope for the best—we're going to invest in helping you become the kind of clinician you want to be.

Your two-year journey
  • Months 0–3: Learn by watching, doing, and asking questions. Start with observation and hands-on learning, then gradually transition into direct practice with scaffolded support, intentional feedback, and time to process what you're learning. Your training plan will be tailored to your experience and goals.
  • Months 3–6: Build confidence and independence. Continue refining your clinical skills with extensive feedback and mentorship as you work toward managing a full caseload by six months.
  • Months 6–12: Strengthen your clinical reasoning. With a full caseload, shift the focus toward intentional feedback, mentorship around challenging cases and areas we have identified for your clinical and personal growth.
  • Year 2: Dig deeper and become the expert. Continue working 1:1 with your mentor while shifting toward a personalized professional development plan. Together, we'll map out continuing education courses and learning opportunities to take your skills to the next level and potentially expand into additional specialty areas.
What you'll specialize in

This isn't a general pediatric position where you dabble in a little bit of everything. We've intentionally built a pathway for clinicians who want to go deep, build real expertise, and become a go-to provider in pediatric and infant feeding therapy. You'll have the mentorship, hands-on training, continuing education opportunities and time to truly master these skills.

  • Master child-led, play-based, neuroaffirming pediatric care. Build a strong foundation in connection-based practice informed by DIR®/Floortime principles. This is essential to be a well-rounded therapist prior to specializing.
  • Master pediatric feeding therapy. Develop advanced clinical reasoning and skills in play-based feeding intervention and oral-motor approaches, with an emphasis on early childhood and children ages 6 months - 6 years.
  • Master our specialized infant feeding program. Develop the skills to work with infants and families through specialized feeding assessment and intervention.
  • Learn alongside experienced OTs, speech therapists, and lactation professionals, with opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and learn from the expertise of the entire team.
  • Opportunities for advanced training and certification in myofunctional therapy for residents who enter with relevant foundation knowledge or demonstrate advanced competency in above areas ahead of schedule.
Who we're looking for
  • A licensed Occupational Therapist in New Hampshire, or someone eligible for licensure.
  • A clinician who values connection, play, individualized care, and collaboration with families.
  • A lifelong learner who welcomes feedback, asks questions, and is excited to keep growing.
  • Someone genuinely passionate about pediatric and infant feeding therapy and eager to develop deep expertise in these specialty areas.
  • A clinician who wants to become an expert, not just dabble in a little bit of everything. You're excited by the idea of investing in a niche, building advanced clinical skills, and becoming a go-to provider in your area of expertise.
  • Someone looking for more than their next job—a clinician who wants to find their professional home at APT. We're investing in your growth, and we're looking for someone who is equally invested in growing with our team for the long term.

Pediatric experience is welcome, but not required. We're especially interested in experienced adult OTs who want to transition into pediatrics within a supportive, mentorship-driven environment.

About APT

Adaptive Pediatric Therapy is a collaborative outpatient practice with a big vision: to become a leader in pediatric and infant feeding therapy while doing healthcare differently. We believe in looking beyond symptoms, investing in clinical excellence, and providing thoughtful, individualized care that makes a real difference for children and families. We specialize in early childhood, providing services primarily for children ages 0-6 years.

We also believe clinicians do their best work when they're supported, trusted, and given the time to do things well. Unlike the productivity-driven model common in our field, we prioritize quality of care over numbers, offer scheduling flexibility, and don't impose productivity standards. We're building a workplace where clinicians can grow, collaborate, and take pride in the care they provide—without feeling like they have to choose between doing what's best for a family and meeting a quota.

Benefits & Perks
  • 401(k) matching up to 3.5%
  • Paid time off (PTO) to recharge and enjoy life outside of work
  • Flexible scheduling that supports work-life balance
  • No productivity standards — quality of care and work satisfaction comes first
  • Healthcare stipend to help offset healthcare costs
  • Paid mentorship and specialty training
  • Extensive CEU budget
  • AI assisted documentation
  • Mentorship and support beyond the residency
  • Collaborative, interdisciplinary team
  • A long term career path

We want APT to be a place where you can build a meaningful career, continue growing as a clinician, and still have a life outside the clinic.

Interested? If you're looking for a place to grow—not just another job—we'd love to meet you. The application window for this Residency Program closes November 15th.
