Job summary

Independent Living Systems in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary rehab team. You will assess patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs and develop personalized plans to restore independence after injury or illness.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current and valid OT license to practice in the United States.
• NBCOT certification is required or preferred.
• Experience in rehabilitation settings with geriatric and neurologic populations.
• Strong knowledge of therapeutic approaches including sensory integration and orthopedic rehab.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient evaluations to assess physical, cognitive, and emotional capabilities and limitations.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
• Provide interventions including sensory integration and adaptive strategies to improve daily living skills.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and families to coordinate care and ensure continuity of treatment.
• Document patient progress and adjust treatment plans to optimize outcomes.
• Educate patients and caregivers on rehabilitation techniques and home exercises.
• Stay current with advances in occupational therapy practices and apply evidence-based approaches.

About the Role:

The Occupational Therapist will play an essential role in helping individuals of all ages regain and improve their ability to perform daily activities following injury, illness, or disability. The Occupation Therapist will focus on assessing patients' physical, emotional, and cognitive needs to develop personalized rehabilitation plans that promote independence and enhance quality of life. The Occupational Therapist will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including physical therapists, physicians, and social workers to ensure comprehensive care. This role requires a compassionate approach to support patients through recovery from conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and orthopedic challenges. Ultimately, the Occupational Therapist’s efforts will empower patients to achieve their highest level of functional ability and participate fully in their communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current and valid Occupational Therapist license to practice in the United States.
• Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• Demonstrated experience in rehabilitation settings, including working with geriatric and neurological populations.
• Strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques related to physical therapy, sensory integration, and orthopedic rehabilitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with patients affected by cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, and stroke rehabilitation.
• Additional certifications or training in specialized rehabilitation methods such as neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) or constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT).
• Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment to enhance patient independence.
• Experience in interdisciplinary team leadership or case management.
• Bilingual abilities or experience working with diverse patient populations.
