Job summary

BrightStar Care in Tyler, TX seeks a PRN Occupational Therapist to provide one-on-one OT services in patients' homes across the Tyler area.

The role is a 1099 Independent Contractor opportunity with flexible scheduling; hours and visits are not guaranteed and depend on patient census and needs. Prior home health experience is preferred, with strong clinical judgment and communication skills required.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Occupational Therapist license in Texas.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your schedule effectively.
• Excellent clinical judgment and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English.
• Reliable transportation and travel to patients’ homes throughout the service area.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients’ functional abilities, limitations, and needs related to daily living activities.
• Develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve independence, safety, mobility, and quality of life.
• Assist patients with ADLs and IADLs.
• Recommend adaptive equipment, techniques, and environmental modifications.
• Educate patients and caregivers on safety strategies, exercises, and techniques.
• Monitor progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
• Document visits accurately and in accordance with requirements.
• Communicate with physicians, caregivers, and the care team.
• Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in the home environment.

Role Overview

As a PRN Occupational Therapist at BrightStar Care, you will provide one-on-one occupational therapy services to patients in the comfort of their own homes throughout the Tyler area.

You’ll work closely with patients, families, and our clinical team to develop individualized treatment plans that promote independence, safety, mobility, and overall quality of life.

This is a 1099 Independent Contractor opportunity offering flexibility to accept visits based on your availability and patient needs. It's an excellent fit for an occupational therapist looking for supplemental income, additional flexibility, or the ability to build their schedule around other professional commitments.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients’ functional abilities, limitations, and needs related to daily living activities.
• Develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans based on each patient’s goals and needs.
• Provide therapeutic interventions designed to improve independence, safety, mobility, and quality of life.
• Assist patients with improving their ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
• Recommend adaptive equipment, techniques, and environmental modifications when appropriate.
• Educate patients and caregivers on safety strategies, exercises, and techniques to promote independence.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
• Document visits accurately and in accordance with clinical and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary care team.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and professional standards.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while working independently in the home environment.

Qualifications

Required:

• Current, unrestricted Occupational Therapist license in the State of Texas.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to patients’ homes throughout the service area.

Preferred:

• Previous home health or outpatient occupational therapy experience.
• Experience working with geriatric or pediatric populations.
• Additional certifications or specialized occupational therapy training.
