Job summary

Shawnee Gardens Healthcare & Rehab Center is seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat assigned patients, helping them reach maximum function and maintain independence in daily living. You will design evidence-based therapy programs and work with families to support home programs.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and teamwork to coordinate care with other clinicians and staff in a SNF setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OT program with current licensure/registration.
• Ability to administer evaluations and develop individualized therapy plans.
• Strong communication and documentation skills; teamwork and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Administers and writes evaluations of assigned patients per departmental standards.
• Maintains timely and accurate patient records and reports.
• Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals.
• Administers treatment programs to increase patients' levels of functioning.
• Designs individualized therapy for adults with learning disabilities.
• Provides prevention therapy and teaches energy conservation and safety techniques for sensory loss and transfers.
• Develops home programs and instructs patients or families in carrying out such programs.
• Participates in patient support groups with other team members.

Job Summary

Duties/Responsibilities

• Administers and writes evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with departmental standards and procedures.
• Maintains timely and accurate patient records and reports.
• Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals.
• Administers treatment programs to increase patients' levels of functioning.
• Designs individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients.
• Provides prevention therapy to maintain functional skills; instructs patients in energy conservation, joint protection, safety techniques for sensory loss, and transferring and visual field deficits; instructs patients' families in personal care for patients, especially proper transfer techniques to avoid back strain.
• Develops home programs and instructs patients or families in carrying out such programs.
• Participates in patient support groups with other team members.

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
• Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association required.
• Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards

Physical Requirements

• Duties require extensive standing and walking.
• Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
• Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
