Job summary

Pleasant View is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our senior living team. You will enhance residents' daily functioning through geriatric therapy, assessments, and individualized treatment plans.

Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, you will implement evidence-based interventions, monitor progress, and educate residents and families on strategies to maintain independence and safety in daily activities.

Qualifications

  • OT degree from an accredited program and valid state license.
  • Experience with geriatric populations preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assess residents' functional abilities through evaluations and interviews.

Job description

Pleasant View, a leading senior living community, is currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our compassionate team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in improving the daily lives and overall well-being of our residents. This position requires a deep understanding of geriatric therapy needs and a passion for delivering exceptional care.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assess and evaluate the functional abilities and limitations of residents through comprehensive evaluations, observations, and interviews.
  2. Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to individual resident needs, goals, and abilities, aiming to enhance independence and quality of life
  3. Provide a wide range of evidence-based therapy interventions to maximize residents' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functioning.
  4. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop holistic care plans for residents, ensuring their safety, comfort, and optimal recovery.
  5. Educate residents, their families, and staff on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and strategies to maintain independence and reduce dependency.
  6. Regularly evaluate residents' progress, modify treatment plans as needed, and document outcomes accurately and comprehensively.
  7. Assist in facility-wide initiatives to enhance resident engagement, promote wellness, and prevent accidents or injuries.
  8. Stay up-to-date with advancements in occupational therapy practices, senior care policies, and relevant regulations, applying this knowledge to enhance the quality of care provided.
Requirements:
  1. Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  2. Current state license/certification as an Occupational Therapist.
  3. Proven experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in a geriatric or senior living setting.
  4. Solid understanding of occupational therapy principles, assessments, and interventions, with expertise in treating seniors.
  5. Excellent knowledge of common age-related conditions, such as arthritis, dementia, stroke, and mobility challenges, and ability to adapt therapy plans accordingly.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with residents, families, and colleagues.
  7. Compassion, patience, and empathy to work effectively with older adults.
  8. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly articulate therapy plans, progress, and recommendations.
  9. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in electronic health record systems.
  10. Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
