Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an OT in TX.
  • Includes evaluations, tests, and measurements of functional status and cognitive/perceptual functions.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to meet patient needs and involve families.
  • Documentation per policy including charting, charge entry, peer reviews, and daily scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, plans and implements OT treatment programs according to physician referral and plan of care.
  • Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and family in goal setting and training/education.
  • Completes necessary documentation including patient care charts and daily schedule.
  • Coordinates care with other departments and hospital activities, including discharge planning and rounds.
  • Assigns, supervises and reviews the care of the OTA and therapy aide.
  • Promotes professional customer service and teamwork to meet patient needs.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence and quality of life so they can safely perform daily activities.


Every day you will assess diverse patients (orthopedic, neurological, sensory, cancer recovery, etc.), develop treatment plans, and conduct evaluations/re-evaluations. You will be expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document thoroughly, and provide positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients.


To be successful in this role, you must be flexible, adaptable, exceptionally organized, and a personable, motivating team player.




  • Evaluates, plans and Implements occupational therapy treatment programs according to physician referral, and/or plan of care. Designs programs to meet the patient’s physical, psychological, and age specific needs; Performs evaluations, tests, and measurements of functional status, neuromuscular, musculo‑skeletal, cognitive/perceptual, and sensory /psychological Functions


  • Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner; encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education


  • Completes all necessary documentation as outlined by departmental policy and documentation review. This includes, but is not limited to patient care charting, charge entry, completing peer chart and peer reviews, and documenting on daily schedule


  • Coordinates care of patients with other departmental and hospital activities in a manner that fosters a positive professional image consistent with the departmental and hospital goals and mission statement. This includes, but is not limited to, discharge planning, participation in care conferences, interdisciplinary rounds, collaborative practice groups, the student program and community endeavors


  • Assigns, supervises and reviews the care of patients and duties of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and therapy aide


  • Promotes and Supports positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests and hospital personnel. Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner. Encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education




We are offering up to $5,000 in relocation assistance and $40,000 Loan Forgiveness to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements

Where You'll Work

St. Joseph Health Grimes Hospital is a 25- bed critical access hospital in Navasota, Texas offering a Level IV Trauma Center, in-patient and out-patient services, physical therapy, emergency care, occupational therapy, skilled nursing care, injury treatment and more.


The ED includes a triage room, 5 patient rooms and a central nurses' station. The ED maintains a specific designation for Stroke and Trauma care and is equipped with 24-hour emergency services, laboratory, and CT scans.



Pay Range

$39.08 - $58.14 /hour
