Newport News, Virginia Hiring Range $41.00 - $56.38/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Overview

An Occupational Therapist carries out an individualized program for patients with acute and chronic health conditions to maximize their quality of life and achieve their functional goals. The Occupational Therapist may work in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting. The Therapist is supervised by Rehab Services management and maintains a positive working relationship with health professionals and ancillary staff.

What you will do

• Performs evaluations, determines OT diagnoses, develops plan of care, and performs occupational therapy procedures to aid in restoring function, improve mobility, relieve pain, improve health, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities.
• Follows and carries out the treatment plan.
• Modifies to maximize therapeutic benefit and meet discharge criteria and returns to optimal level of care.
• Utilizes testing results and develops updated plan of care based on principles outlined in appropriate evidence based guidelines.
• Evaluates and assesses the patient timely, based on principles outlined by practice guidelines, evidence based guidelines and regulatory standards (state & organizational policies, requirements of accrediting bodies, etc.).
• Assesses and documents progress for evaluation, billing and reporting purposes.
• Advises on adaptive equipment to help patients with daily activities.
• Builds trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs.
• Actively participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings, as assigned.
• Assists and participates in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree, Occupational Therapy (Required) or Master's Degree, Occupational Therapy (Required) or Doctoral Degree, Occupational Therapy (Required)
• 1 year Occupational Therapy (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

• Occupational Therapy (OT) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
• Occupational Therapy (OTR) - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Inc (NBCOT) (Preferred)
• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
