Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of undergraduate program course work for Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Safety or related field; 36 mos. of experience in an occupational safety program; valid Ohio Driver’s License.
• OSHA Outreach Instructor certification for 10 and 30 hour Construction or Industrial Safety; Health Safety Institute CPR/First Aid Instructor; Asbestos Building Inspector/Management Training Certification (within 1 year).

Responsibilities

• Attend, research, develop and conduct safety training classes meeting OSHA/PERRP minimum requirements.
• Act as the safety liaison between the County and enforcement agencies (NIOSH, PERRP/OSHA) for standards and inspections.
• Monitor and recommend measures to reduce safety exposures in departments (e.g., shop, engineering, sanitary, building services).
• Assist departments with contracted vendors to ensure safety compliance and documentation.
• Record, investigate and report employee exposure concerns; perform investigatory testing as needed.
• Conduct job safety analyses (JSA) and participate in safety committees county-wide.
• Develop, implement and enforce safety program policies and procedures; review incident reports; enhance emergency preparedness.
