McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc. seeks a Safety Intern to support the Safety department on a range of projects and gain exposure to multiple business segments. You will help review programs, develop curricula, and assist with investigations in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

The internship runs full-time for the summer of 2026, with opportunities to influence safety outcomes and learn industry best practices in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Occupational Health or related field.
  • GPA 3.0 or above.
  • Availability for a full-time summer internship in 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Review safety programs and develop training curriculums.
  • Assist with accident investigations and follow-up actions.
  • Develop and update safety and health training programs.
  • Provide daily support to the safety department on various projects.
  • Assist and conduct internal compliance and injury-reduction assessments.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements.
  • Quantify and present safety statistics to management.
  • Support and manage the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Duties vary by business unit and location.

Summary

The Safety Intern will provide support to the Safety department by working on a variety of safety related projects while gaining exposure to a variety of functional areas and business segments within the organization.

YOUR IMPACT
  • Conduct written program/procedure reviews and develop training curriculums based on these programs.
  • Assist with accident investigations and follow-up with required corrective action.
  • Develop and/or update safety and health training programs for various business units.
  • Provide daily support to the safety department on a variety of safety projects.
  • Assist and conduct internal compliance and injury reduction assessments to include follow through.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and provide recommendations on potential improvements.
  • Quantify and present safety & health statistics to the management team.
  • Support and manage the Safety Management System (SMS)
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Job duties will vary depending on business unit and location of internship.

This internship is full time, 40 hours per week, during the summer of 2026

Minimum Qualifications
  • Student working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Occupational Health or related field.
Standout Qualifications
  • Ability to learn new programs quickly while working in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Outstanding communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential.
  • Familiar with manufacturing and safety principles is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently when necessary.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
Pay Range

$18.00 - $37.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
