Job summary

Powerback Pediatrics is hiring a School Based Occupational Therapist for services in the greater Chicago area. You will support students aged 3-21 through school-based OT, collaborating with teachers, SLPs, PTs, and other professionals to implement and monitor goals within IEPs.

Responsibilities include writing annual reviews, conducting progress documentation, and performing functional assessments to determine OT intervention needs in the school environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
• Initial NBCOT certification required.
• Valid OT license as required by state law.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Implements treatment plans with functional outcomes for IEPs and school sharing.
• Collaborates with teachers, SLP, PT, PCP, and other team members for cohesive therapy.
• Documents progress with formal/informal tests and measurements.
• Writes annual review reports and goals aligned with IEP dates.
• Attends school-related meetings (IEP, annual reviews, etc.).
• Performs screenings to determine OT intervention needs in school settings.

Position Summary

Our School Based Occupational Therapists serve students with various physical, social-emotional, and developmental challenges, ranging in age from 3-21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Implements treatment plans that focus on functional and measurable outcomes to be shared with the school and/or supervisors, as mandated in the student’s Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Consults with other professionals (Teachers, SLP, PT, PCP, etc.) on the student‘s treatment team to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive therapy team.
• Assesses and documents each student’s progress through formal and informal tests and measurements.
• Writes and prepares annual review reports and goals for each student in accordance with their IEP dates and requirements, in order to remain in compliance with state guidelines.
• Attends all school related meetings as scheduled, such as, but not limited to, Triennials, Annual Reviews, Domains, Referrals, IEP, and pre-IEP meetings for each individual student.
• Provides screenings and evaluations to determine requirements for skilled occupational therapy intervention relative to the client’s level of function within the school environment. This includes, but is not limited to the following areas: ADL (activities of daily living), fine and gross motor skills, strength and range of motion, positioning, adaptive equipment needs, executive function, and self-regulation.

Clinical Experience With The Pediatric Population Preferred

• They must have a Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
• They must have initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
• The Occupational Therapist must hold a valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice.
• They must have a current CPR Certification.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective leadership and client relationship skills.
• Ability to exercise mature judgment with initiative in analyzing and solving problems.
• Maintains professional attitudes and respect for the school and their staff.
• Treats all students with dignity, compassion, empathy and respect.
• Effective organizational skills to manage high volume workloads.

Posted Salary Range: USD $60.00 - USD $67.00 /Hr.
