Job summary

UnityPoint Clinic in Des Moines, IA seeks a Clinic RN for Occupational Health to provide direct employee care, conduct pre-employment screenings, and support providers with examinations. Responsibilities include performing tests, drawing samples, coordinating referrals, and ensuring high-quality care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing program for Registered Nurses.
• Valid RN license in state practicing in good standing.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Certification in Hearing conservation (CAOHC) or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• NIOSH approved spirometry training or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Chauffeur’s license required for client-based services within 6 months of hire per fleet policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to employees and others ill or injured on company property and perform pre-employment screenings.
• Assist the health care provider with nursing assessments and examinations.
• Communicate with peers, patients, and personnel to ensure continuity of care.
• Obtain information to assist with referrals and lab testing; complete forms requisitions as needed.
• Draw blood and collect samples; prepare specimens for analysis.
• Conduct pulmonary function, drug, vision, hearing testing, immunizations, and spirometry.
• Document in the patient’s electronic health record using standardized workflows.
• Maintain accurate confidential employee medical records; ensure CLIA/HIPAA/OSHA/DOT compliance.
• Triaged telephone calls with home care advice and follow-up as necessary.
