Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, IA seeks a Specialty RN for the OB/GYN clinic. The role is full-time with 4 days/week, 7:45 AM–5:15 PM, providing patient care across obstetric and gynecologic services.

You will collaborate with physicians, APs, and staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and education for women's health. Ideal candidates hold an Iowa RN license with BLS, and have OB/GYN experience.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa
• BSN preferred
• Minimum 1 year OB/GYN or women’s health experience
• Current BLS certification
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient with EMR systems (Epic/Athena)
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinic
• Willing to float to other UnityPoint locations

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessments, education, and triage in an OB/GYN setting.
• Support providers with in-office procedures (e.g., colposcopies, IUD insertions, biopsies).
• Administer medications and injections, including vaccines and hormone therapies, as prescribed.
• Assist with prenatal care, postpartum follow-ups, and routine gynecologic visits.
• Educate patients about reproductive health, pregnancy, contraception, and preventive care.
• Triage patient phone calls and messages, assessing urgency and coordinating follow-up.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation.
• Ensure compliance with clinical policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with front desk and administrative staff for smooth patient flow.
• Participate in staff education and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Iowa (required).
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience (OB/GYN or women’s health experience strongly preferred).
• Current BLS certification (required).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in using EMR systems (experience with [insert system name if known, e.g., Epic, Athena, etc.]).
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinic environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
