Job summary

Iowa Ortho in Iowa is seeking an Occupational Health Clinic Manager to lead the onsite occupational health clinic, oversee clinical and support staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain high-quality services. The role combines clinical practice with operational leadership to drive program effectiveness and workplace safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Iowa RN license required.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of occupational health, emergency nursing, ambulatory care, or related clinical experience preferred.
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• Experience managing occupational health programs, workers' compensation cases, and regulatory compliance initiatives preferred.

• Serve as primary liaison between Iowa Ortho and On-site Employer leadership regarding occupational health operations.
• Oversee occupational health surveillance programs including hearing conservation, spirometry, vision screening, drug testing, and post-offer assessments.
• Ensure accurate OSHA log management, injury reporting, regulatory documentation, and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with leadership, HR, EHS, carriers, and healthcare providers to support health initiatives.
• Conduct workplace evaluations, safety observations, ergonomic assessments, and injury prevention activities.
• Analyze injury trends and program outcomes to develop risk-reduction recommendations.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and best practices for regulatory compliance.

The Occupational Health Clinic Manager provides operational and clinical leadership for the onsite occupational health clinic. This position is responsible for overseeing daily clinic operations, leading clinical and support staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining high-quality occupational health services, and serving as the primary liaison between Iowa Ortho and On-site Employer leadership. The Occupational Health Clinic Manager maintains an active clinical role while driving program effectiveness, team member health and safety initiatives, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians and other licensed independent practitioners to coordinate appropriate treatment and follow-up care.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, HIPAA, workers' compensation regulations, and organizational policies and procedures.
• Oversee workers' compensation processes, injury management programs, and return-to-work initiatives to promote positive outcomes and reduce lost work time.
• Manage clinic workflows, quality assurance programs, inventory, equipment maintenance, and operational resources.
• Monitor key performance indicators, service metrics, clinical outcomes, and client satisfaction and implement improvement strategies as needed.
• Oversee occupational health surveillance programs, including hearing conservation, respiratory protection, spirometry, vision screening, drug testing, breath alcohol testing, and post-offer employment assessments.
• Ensure accurate OSHA log management, injury reporting, regulatory documentation, and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with On-site Employer leadership, Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety, insurance carriers, and healthcare providers to support team member health and workplace safety initiatives.
• Conduct workplace evaluations, safety observations, ergonomic assessments, and injury prevention activities.
• Analyze occupational injury trends, workers' compensation metrics, and program outcomes to develop recommendations for risk reduction and process improvement.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and best practices that support occupational health operations and regulatory compliance.
• Manage clinic budgets, supplies, vendor relationships, and operational expenditures.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and program updates for organizational leadership.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between Iowa Ortho and On-site Employer leadership regarding occupational health operations, performance, and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
• Current Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of occupational health, emergency nursing, ambulatory care, or related clinical experience preferred.
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• Experience managing occupational health programs, workers' compensation cases, and regulatory compliance initiatives preferred.

Certifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S), Certified Case Manager (CCM), Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN), or similar certification preferred.
• Hearing Conservation, Spirometry, DOT Drug Testing, and Breath Alcohol Technician certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Strong knowledge of occupational health practices, workplace health and safety principles, and OSHA regulations.
• Knowledge of workers' compensation processes, injury management, and return-to-work programs.
• Understanding of DOT regulations, medical surveillance programs, and regulatory reporting requirements.

Travel

• Occasional local travel may be required. Up to 10% travel may be necessary to support occupational health operations and training activities.
