Job summary

Kaleida Health in Buffalo, NY seeks an Obstetrics RN for per-diem coverage at Golisano Children's Hospital. The RN assesses health needs, provides obstetric care, and executes physician orders in a fast-paced maternity setting.

Required NYS RN license, BLS, ACLS, and fetal monitoring certifications with time-bound completion. Internal candidates need 9+ months in a similar role; externals 12 months within 2 years. Onsite work with variable hours and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with NYS license (RN) required.
• BLS within 6 months of hire and maintained.
• ACLS and NRP & AWHONN fetal monitoring certifications within 1 year of hire/transfer.
• NCC electronic fetal monitoring certification within 1 year of hire/transfer (by 12/31/2026).
• Internal candidates: at least 9 months in a comparable role within 2 years; external: at least 1 year within 2 years.

Job Description

Assesses and treats human responses to actual and potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling and provision of care supportive or restorative of life and well-being. Executes medical regimens prescribed by a licensed physician, dentist or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under the NYS Education Department and in accordance with NYS Department of Health regulations. Adheres to current Kaleida policies and standards of practice.

Education And Credentials

Current NYS registration as a Registered Professional Nurse/RN Permit required upon hire and must be maintained thereafter. American Heart Association-Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months of Hire and must be maintained thereafter. RN Obstetrics L&D American Heart Association ACLS, American Academy of Pediatrics NRP & AWHONN intermediate fetal monitoring certification required within one (1) year of hire/transfer and must remain current. Must also obtain their NCC certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring within one (1) year of hire/transfer and must remain current. All current employees will need to obtain this certification by 12/31/2026.

Experience

For Registered Nurse clinical positions, internal applicants must have been employed in the same job title as the per diem position for which they are applying or in a comparable area of practice. Internal applicants must have a minimum of nine (9) continuous months of comparable work experience within two (2) years of the time the per diem job is posted. External applicants must have a minimum of one (1) continuous year of comparable work experience within two (2) years of the time the per diem job is posted. All applicants will be required to satisfy all orientation/probationary requirements.
