Job summary

White Oak Medical Center seeks an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager (RN) for the Observation Unit to advance patient care and support hospital leadership in daily operations. The role emphasizes staff supervision, coordination with physicians, and adherence to evidence-based standards.

The position requires a nursing degree, Maryland license, BLS, and supervisory experience. Full-time hours include two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts with weekend rotation in a faith-based health system.

Qualifications

• Must hold a nursing degree (ADN/Diploma/Bachelor).
• Maryland state nursing license currently active.
• BLS certification required by AHA.
• Department-specific certification within the first year of employment.
• Prior supervisory/management experience (1 year) preferred.
• Two years’ work experience in the department is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assures delivery of quality department/clinical services in line with standards.
• Assists the Manager with department operations, goals, budgeting, and staffing.
• Collaborates with physicians and health care team to ensure optimum patient care.
• Promotes teamwork and positive employee relations within the unit.
• Develops evidence-based standards of care and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Reports significant safety events and communicates resolutions to leadership.
• Demonstrates exemplary customer service and professional conduct.
• Performs additional duties as required.

Education

Nursing degree (Associate, Diploma or Baccalaureate)

Maryland nursing license

BLS certification (AHA)

Department-specific certification within 1 year

Supervisory/management experience (1 year)

Two years of prior department experience (preferred)
