Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic’s St. Peter's Hospital seeks an experienced Nurse Manager to lead the 4 GAB Observation Unit, overseeing clinical, operational, financial, and people management functions in a fast-paced environment.

The role focuses on throughput optimization, reducing ED/inpatient length of stay, and efficient resource utilization, while promoting accountability, safety, and colleague engagement across shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current New York State Registered Nurse licensure.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Three (3) years of progressive clinical nursing experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in an acute care setting.
• Strong knowledge of patient flow, staffing management, quality improvement, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Observation Unit, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with ED, Hospitalist, Case Management, Utilization Management, Nursing Operations, and inpatient leadership teams to optimize patient throughput and care transitions.
• Identify, escalate and resolve barriers impacting patient progression and length of stay.
• Drive initiatives that support reductions in Emergency Department boarding and inpatient length of stay.
• Ensure appropriate staffing alignment based on patient volume, acuity, and operational needs.
• Manage staffing resources effectively to reduce premium labor and incentive utilization while maintaining quality and service standards.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, patient safety, and colleague engagement.
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators including throughput metrics, patient experience, quality outcomes, productivity, and financial performance.
• Recruit, onboard, develop, and retain nursing talent while supporting professional growth and succession planning.
• Lead performance management, coaching, mentoring, and recognition activities for nursing colleagues.
