Job summary

Figma’s Observability engineering team delivers health, performance, and cost visibility for the platform. As Engineering Manager for Observability, you will shape instrumentation standards, drive AI-driven anomaly detection, and lead a distributed team of engineers to ensure reliable, scalable telemetry across metrics, logs, and traces.

Qualifications

• Leads infrastructure/observability or platform teams delivering reliable systems.
• Deep hands-on experience with Datadog, OpenTelemetry across metrics/logs/traces.
• Strong distributed-systems knowledge and instrumentation best practices.
• Experience driving cost transparency, budgeting, forecasting, and alerting in cloud environments.
• Ability to set technical direction and orchestrate cross-functional alignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of 5 engineers responsible for reliability and observability platforms.
• Own the AI Trace Observability ecosystem and telemetry pipeline.
• Maintain Figma’s core observability stack with high availability and data quality.
• Define instrumentation standards, libraries, agents, and operators for monitoring services.
• Explore AI-driven anomaly detection, root cause analysis, and automated ops workflows.
• Partner with Infra, product, finance, and security to improve visibility and cost efficiency.
• Coach engineers with career development and maintain a culture of ownership.
