Job description

About Us

Rivianis on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

As a critical member of our Field Operations team, you will serve at Rivian’s Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC) in Seattle, WA. This role supports the Outbound Logistics Field Operations Supervisor in running the VDC’s daily operation as they work as a liaison between OBL and the regional service centers, both teams working together to reduce order to delivery times. Your mission is to orchestrate a seamless, efficient, and high-quality operation as you manage the finished vehicle inventory at the VDC.

Responsibilities
  • Yard & Inventory Management: Use state-of-the-art yard management systems to execute the safe, efficient movement of vehicles. Conduct physical inventories, maintain lot organization, and ensure every finished vehicle is parked correctly according to AAR standards.
  • Vehicle Readiness: Receive, inspect, and process incoming vehicle inventory. Maintain each vehicle’s delivery readiness. Assist in performing Over-The-Air (OTA) updates when necessary and audit vehicle states (e.g., sleep mode, latest OTA version, transport mode) to optimize the state of charge.
  • Logistics & Shuttling: You may be called upon to shuttle vehicles to the service center or local charging stations, based on need.
  • Training & Career Development: Participate in the Rivian Learning Network (RLN) modules, and on-the-job mentorship. Learn to diagnose software and ECU issues so that vehicles throughput can be optimized while in VDC inventory.
  • Team Collaboration: Maintain a flexible, “all-hands-on-deck” mindset to provide cross-functional support wherever needed, treating the vehicle inventory and facility as if it were your own.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or recognized equivalency preferred. Basic knowledge of EV functionality and previous technical experience
  • Strong understanding of finished vehicle inventory mechanics, including assignment, correcting displaced vehicles, translating 3PL reports, and forecasting surges or capacity limits. At least 6 months of hands‑on experience in finished vehicle inventory management (or a similar role), with 1–2 years strongly preferred
  • System Expertise: Must be familiar with OBL YMS and data export functions.
  • Data Analysis (Google Workspace): Must be familiar with Google Sheets, including general formula use and standard spreadsheet functions.
  • Data Visualization: Ability to create basic slides in Google Slides preferred.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills are needed to effectively collaborate with a wide variety of internal teams and external vendors such as truckaway drivers, rail unloaders, Service Center technicians, and OBL National Leadership
  • Driving Requirements: Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license in your state of residence. Must have a clean driving record: no driving‑related suspensions or revocations within the last 3–5 years, no drug or alcohol‑related incidents in the last 3 years, and no more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years. Will be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring.
  • Skills & Attributes: A strong desire to learn, high adaptability, a passion for hands‑on work, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Working Conditions: Ability to work a flexible 40-hour week, weekends and occasional holidays. Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions throughout the entirety of the shift, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow.
