Job summary

UnityPoint Clinic in Des Moines Metro seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support our OB/GYN team across multiple Des Moines area locations, including Methodist Des Moines, Ankeny, Clive, and more.

You will provide direct patient care, assist with procedures, administer vaccines and injections, and help educate patients on reproductive health and preventive care. The role emphasizes teamwork, quality care, and flexibility to support staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program (certificate, diploma, or associate degree).
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the listed certifying bodies.
• Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
• Familiarity with EPIC is a plus.
• May be required to float to other UnityPoint Clinic locations to support staffing.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessments, education, and triage in an OB/GYN setting.
• Support providers with in-office procedures (e.g., colposcopies, IUD insertions, biopsies).
• Administer medications and injections, including vaccines and hormone therapies, as prescribed.
• Assist with prenatal care, postpartum follow-ups, and routine gynecologic visits.
• Educate patients about reproductive health, pregnancy, contraception, and preventive care.
• Triage patient phone calls and messages, assessing urgency and coordinating follow-up.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR.
• Ensure compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with front desk and staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
