Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician to join the One Health: Reese Blvd – Obstetrics/Gynecology team. The role involves performing routine laboratory tests with accuracy and assisting with specimen handling and quality controls.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED with laboratory testing experience; phlebotomy training is preferred. Typical hours are Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with pay ranges from $19.80 to $29.70 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with experience performing moderately complex laboratory testing required.
• Performing complete blood counts and clinical training in phlebotomy, medical office assisting, nursing and radiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses urgency of tests and prioritizes tasks accordingly.
• Prepares specimens for testing, verifies patient IDs and test requisitions, and arranges recollection if needed.
• Uses and maintains laboratory equipment, documents quality controls, troubleshoots minor issues, and keeps the workspace clean.
• Prepares reagents required for test performance.
• Calculates, reports, and records test results; analyzes results for critical values and notifies providers.
• Oversees quality assessment activities and documents problem recognition and resolution.
