This individual will serve as the primary insights partner to the Global Obesity Program and will work closely with Commercial, Global Marketing, Medical, Clinical Development, and Value & Access. The role will establish and lead an integrated insights agenda that connects primary market research, secondary analytics, forecasting, competitive intelligence, and internal knowledge to inform therapeutic area, asset, and evidence-generation strategies.

The Senior Director will be a highly collaborative and influential business partner who can translate complex and evolving business questions into focused learning plans and actionable recommendations. The individual will proactively identify emerging opportunities and risks, challenge established thinking when appropriate, and help senior leaders make objective, evidence-based decisions in an environment characterized by significant uncertainty and rapid market evolution.

  • Partner with Forecasting, Analytics, Competitive Intelligence, Value & Access, Medical, and Clinical Development teams to ensure that insights are translated into aligned assumptions, scenarios, strategic choices, and business recommendations.
  • Provide insight leadership for obesity therapeutic area strategy, including market development, patient and healthcare professional needs, treatment pathways, competitive evolution, portfolio opportunities, and potential future standards of care.
  • Develop business cases, scenario analyses, strategic workshops, and senior‑level narratives to support portfolio decisions, clinical development plans, investment prioritization, lifecycle strategy, and governance discussions.
  • Translate complex findings into clear implications and recommendations for senior leadership, including Therapeutic Area leadership, governance committees, and executive‑level audiences.
  • Act as an objective strategic thought partner and constructive challenger, identifying gaps in evidence, testing assumptions, reconciling conflicting information, and introducing alternative perspectives when needed.
  • Lead stakeholder alignment around key business questions, learning priorities, budgets, work plans, methodologies, and decision timelines across multiple assets and workstreams.
  • Identify and develop innovative insight‑generation approaches, data sources, analytic methods, and external partnerships that strengthen Amgen’s understanding of the obesity market.
  • Select and manage best‑in‑class research and consulting partners, ensuring that external work meets expectations for strategic relevance, methodological rigor, quality timeliness, and budget.
  • Lead and develop direct reports and cross‑functional project teams, building strong strategic, analytical, consulting, and communication capabilities while personally leading select high‑priority initiatives.
  • Ensure that all projects comply with applicable Amgen policies, standard operating procedures, legal and regulatory requirements, and service‑level expectations.
