AbbVie is expanding its obesity therapeutics efforts and seeks a Principal Scientist to participate in external innovation and diligence to advance the early obesity pipeline. This individual will report to a scientific director of obesity and focus on external innovation activities for obesity assets.

The role requires leading cross-functional teams, coordinating in vitro/in vivo PoC studies with CROs and academic labs, and analyzing preclinical data to ensure scientific integrity.

Qualifications

• PhD in neuroscience, biology or related field with post-doctoral training.
• 6+ years of independent research experience in industry or academia.
• Expertise in obesity-related CNS regulation and energy balance mechanisms.
• Proven peer-reviewed publications in relevant areas.
• Proficiency with AI tools and data visualization.
• Ability to present platform talks at international conferences.

Responsabilités

• Lead external collaborations and diligence in obesity discovery and partnerships.
• Perform literature searches to identify novel obesity targets and CNS energy balance approaches.
• Coordinate preclinical PoC studies with CROs and academic labs.
• Analyze preclinical PK and PK/PD data for obesity assets.
• Prepare scientific reports and presentations for preclinical programs.
• Design MoA experiments and review data for late-stage assets.
• Drive cross-functional team engagement with scientific rigor and independence.
