Job summary

Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Los Angeles is seeking a skilled OB Technician to support our Labor & Delivery team. You will assist with cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, and other obstetrical procedures, while maintaining sterile technique and patient safety.

The role requires one year of acute care hospital experience (OB Technician or Surgical Technologist preferred) and strong teamwork and communication.

Qualifications

• One year of acute care hospital experience as an OB Technician or Surgical Technologist preferred.
• Ability to scrub and assist during Labor & Delivery procedures.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and Labor & Delivery procedures.
• Strong understanding of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians, anesthesiologists, and registered nurses before, during, and after cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, and other obstetrical procedures.
• Scrub and maintain sterile technique during cesarean sections, tubal ligations, and other surgical procedures.
• Prepare operating rooms, delivery rooms, surgical instruments, and equipment for procedures.
• Set up delivery tables and pass instruments and supplies while maintaining a sterile field.
• Assist with gowning, gloving, and procedural support during deliveries and surgeries.
• Restock operating rooms, delivery rooms, epidural carts, and sub-sterile areas after procedures.
• Maintain surgical equipment and ensure supplies are readily available for patient care.
• Support Labor & Delivery nursing staff by assisting with patient care before, during, and after childbirth.
• Perform clerical duties including answering telephones, call lights, data entry, physician order processing, and assembling patient charts.
• Welcome and assist patients, families, and visitors while providing exceptional customer service.
• Assist with patient transfers using safe body mechanics and proper lifting techniques.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, infection prevention practices, and departmental safety programs.

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.


• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.


• Ability to obtain and maintain an LA County Fire Card within the first 30 days of employment.


• Must maintain all required certifications, mandatory education, and occupational health requirements in accordance with hospital policy.
