Job summary

MercyOne Genesis is hiring a Surgical Technician to function in the scrub role during intraoperative patient care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. The position supports the MercyOne mission and operates within Genesis Medical Center guidelines.

Responsibilities include assisting in the scrub role, maintaining sterile technique, and contributing to a collaborative OR environment. 36 hours/week, days shift, with possible rotating call.

Qualifications

• BLS certification is mandatory.
• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or completion of a surgical tech program.
• CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa; must be obtained within 18 months if working in Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Assist in intraoperative patient care as a scrub role under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Perform delegated technical tasks in alignment with MercyOne Genesis policies and patient safety standards.
• Contribute to a team-based, productive operating room environment.
• May participate in a rotating call schedule.

We are looking to hire a Surgical Technician. The Surgical Technician functions in the scrub role during intraoperative patient care, doing so as a delegated technical function under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. The provision of care is consistent through adherence to standards and support of the philosophies of Genesis Medical Center.

Schedule

• Full-time, 36 hours per week
• Shift: Days (0700 - 1930)
• May include a rotating "call" schedule

General Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program.
• CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa. CST certification is required within 18-months of hire, if working in Illinois.
• No prior experience is required.
• BLS. Mandatory Reporter.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people; ability to work under pressure and with a large degree of independence and accountability; and the ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control or planning of an activity.
• Adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
