Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an Obstetric Technician to support nursing staff and assist in operating room procedures, including vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections. You will maintain sterile technique, pass instruments, and help ensure patient safety and comfort.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, and AHA BLS/HCP certification, with preferred prior OB or Surgical Tech experience in an acute care setting. This role is on-site and offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS/HCP) certification is required.
• Certified Surgical Technician or OB Technician certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists and supports nursing staff with direct and indirect patient care.
• Maintains sterile technique in the operative area and ensures readiness of instruments.
• Assists surgeon in operating room procedures including Cesarean section and hysterectomy.
• Passes instruments, maintains counts, and documents changes in patient condition to the nurse.
• Communicates patient information and potential problems to the nurse promptly.
• Ensures patient belongings are secure and properly labeled during discharge or transfer.
• Demonstrates calm judgment in emergencies and supports team during crises.
• Cares for equipment and supplies to ensure readiness for use.

Education
