Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an Obstetric Technician to support nursing staff in OR, PACU and Labor Rooms. The role involves assisting with Cesarean sections, hysterectomies, and other OB procedures while maintaining sterile technique and accurate instrument counts.

The candidate should have a High School diploma or GED, AHA BLS HCP certification, and OB/Surgical Tech credentials or equivalent NJ certification, with 1 year of hospital PCT experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• AHA Basic Life Support HCP certification is required.
• Certified Surgical Technician or OB Technician certification required or meet NJ certification law.
• One year of hospital PCT experience preferred.
• Previous OB Tech or Surgical Tech experience in acute care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists and supports nursing staff with direct and indirect patient care per RN plan of care.
• Orders and stocks supplies for OR, PACU, Labor Rooms and related areas; maintains readiness of instruments.
• Maintains sterile technique in operative area; scrubs, gowns and gloves as required.
• Assists surgeon in OB procedures and related operations.
• Communicates patient information and changes in condition to the nurse during shifts.
• Responds to patient/family requests and calls lights promptly.
• Ensures proper handling of patient belongings during discharge, transfer or expire.
