Job summary

USA Health in Mobile, AL seeks an experienced surgical scrub tech to support the operating room team. You will establish sterile fields, prepare labor rooms, assist with various procedures, and help ensure patient safety by maintaining asepsis.

You may act as a phlebotomist and assist with patient transport and record-keeping. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, scrub tech training or delivery-room experience, and ABLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Delivery room or scrub tech training course or experience is required.
• ABLS certification is required upon hire.
• Experience is preferred and may substitute education.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub duties; establishes and maintains sterile field
• Inspects sterile items for contamination before opening
• Adheres to electrosurgical safety policy and procedures
• Performs sponge and sharp counts; initiates corrective actions when counts are incorrect
• Communicates/documents results of counts according to facility policy
• Decontaminates instruments according to unit protocols
• Assists physicians with vaginal deliveries, cesarean deliveries, and other procedures while maintaining asepsis
• Assists and performs patient transport when needed
• Accesses and maintains electronic and paper medical records
• Adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality
• Requires minimal supervision to safely perform patient care
• Maintains proper body mechanics and safety for patients and staff
• Supports the nursing process through data collection and patient care

Education

High School Diploma Or equivalent Required

Delivery room or completion of a scrub tech training course Required

ABLS - Advanced Burn Life Support Upon Hire Required
