Job summary

Tidelands Health is seeking an OB Scrub Technologist to support Labor & Delivery, Nursery and nursing units under RN supervision. You will assist physicians during procedures, prepare the operating suite, monitor PAR levels, and ensure instruments are ready for sterilization.

The role requires NBSTSA certification or equivalent, along with Basic Life Support and ongoing CE. This is a part-time opportunity with a focus on patient safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program maintaining NBSTSA certification or successor.
• Completion of accredited program allows up to 3 months practice before certification is finalized; 15 hours of CE annually to stay qualified.
• Equivalent training in US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or US Public Health Service with CE requirement.

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepares patient charts and outpatient packets.
• Keep nursing staff informed of changes.
• Ensure supplies are available in Nursery, PPE cabinets and daily linen for staff use.
• Assist with toileting and feeding patients as directed by RN.
• Assist Circulator in proper positioning of the patient.
• Demonstrate proper scrub/sterile techniques.
• Answer phones with proper etiquette.

This employee answers phones and participates in planning and implementing the patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and based on the Nursing Process. This includes assisting the surgeon during operative procedures, ensures the operating suite is adequately prepared for the procedure, monitors PAR levels of supplies and equipment, and prepares surgical instruments for sterilization.**What you will do*** Accurately prepares patient charts and outpatient packets* Keep other nursing personnel notified of changes* Ensure supplies are available in the Nursery, PPE cabinets and daily linen preparation for staff use during ADL's* Assist with toileting and feeding patients as directed by the Registered Nurse* Assist the Circulator in proper positioning of the patient* Demonstrate proper scrub/sterile techniques* Follows proper etiquette when answering phones**Education Qualifications*** High School Diploma and graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program maintaining the Surgical Technologist Certification administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or its successor. Upon completion of an accredited program for surgical technologists, graduates may practice for up to 3 months before completing certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor. Complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified for employment annually Required or* High School Diploma and completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard or in the United States Public Health Service.
