Job summary

Uniontown Hospital is hiring a Surgical Technician to assist in the operating room, prepare equipment and instruments, and support nurses in patient care. The role requires CST certification and an associate degree or equivalent training in surgical technology or related fields.

Minimum one year of OR scrub experience is preferred; responsibilities include maintaining sterile setup, assisting with patient care tasks, and ensuring proper instrument handling and transportation to central sterile

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in nursing procedures as delegated by the RN.
  • Set up and prepare OR equipment, instruments and supplies.
  • Arrange instruments and tables in specified order.
  • Prepare instrumentation for transport to Central Sterile for reprocessing.
  • Maintain cleanliness and restock as needed.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.

Performs a variety of duties related to the preparation, processing and arrangement of surgical instruments and supplies under the direction of a professional registered nurse appropriate to the ages of patients served.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:1. High school diploma or equivalent.2. Graduate of an approved school of Surgical Technology OR Practical Nursing OR an Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting3. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:EXPERIENCE:1. Provide and assists in meeting the patient's care needs and appropriate to the ages of patients served.5. Organizes time to complete assignments according to specifically assigned responsibilities.6. Properly prepares instrumentation following completion of procedures for transport to Central Sterile for reprocessing.7. Follows department guidelines in the cleaning and disinfection of furniture/equipment.8. Maintains general cleanliness of unit and restocks appropriately.9. Reports to Department Director/designee and equipment malfunctions that could affect the standard of care or legal implications.10. Verifies accuracy of sponge/needle and instruments on appropriate record.11.
