Job summary

UP Health System - Portage is seeking a Registered Nurse to join as an OB childbirth educator. This PRN, 0.001 FTE role offers day shifts with varied hours and no weekends or holidays, focused on educating expectant families and delivering high-quality care.

The educator will develop and evaluate childbirth education programs, deliver sessions in group and individual formats, and collaborate with the OB team to support positive birth experiences.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate's degree in nursing; BSN preferred.
• BLS-HCP certification.
• OB and childbirth education experience.
• Childbirth Educator Certification preferred.
• Influenza vaccination or declination.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate childbirth education programs.
• Provide education and support to expectant parents and families.
• Demonstrate teaching and communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Address cultural, physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of childbirth.
• Present information in group and individual settings.
• Operate with clinical judgment and collaboration within the team.
• Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
