Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking an OB/GYN Ultrasound Technician/Medical Sonographer in Harrisonburg, VA. The role involves conducting general diagnostic ultrasound studies under physician supervision, explaining procedures to patients, and maintaining equipment and documentation.

An ARRT or ARDMS credential is required upon hire for many sites, with provisional options available during credentialing. Applicants should possess an HS Diploma (or equivalent) and an Associate’s degree in Diagnostic

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required or higher
• Associate’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field preferred
• Certification/Licensure: Completion of a training program acceptable to their registry board (ARRT or ARDMS) required
• Registered ARRT or ARDMS required upon hire for ACR-accredited sites; provisional staff allowed for credentialing within two years at some sites

Responsibilities

• Perform general diagnostic ultrasound imaging studies under physician supervision
• Explain examinations to patients and obtain necessary information
• Prepare patient room/equipment/medications and maintain supply inventory
• Operate sonography equipment and electronic radiology systems
• Complete departmental documentation and logging of infection control procedures
