Job summary

Advocate Health in North Carolina is seeking a Medical Assistant to support obstetrics/gynecology patients. The role covers patient rooming, vitals, history taking, and health maintenance per specialty, with technician duties in the lab and POCT.

You will assist providers, manage referrals, and ensure accurate medication administration while maintaining a clean, compliant practice environment. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or DD214 in lieu of a formal Medical Assistant program or EMT.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, history, health maintenance, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures and patient care as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, and POCT under CLIA guidelines.
• Administers medications and vaccines per rights of medication administration.
• Manages referrals, authorizations, appointments, and patient messaging.
• Maintains clean, stocked, and organized work area; monitors equipment.
