Job summary

Medix seeks a Medical Assistant in Phoenix, AZ to support back-office operations in women's health and primary care. You will escort patients, take vitals, document histories, and prepare for exams, pap tests, and prenatal ultrasounds.

You will assist clinicians during exams and minor procedures, educate patients on contraception and prenatal care, perform point-of-care tests, schedule and manage EMR records, and ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with externship.
• 1–3+ years MA experience in women's health or primary care.
• Capable of handling high patient volume (35–46 patients/day).
• Ability to manage heavy FMLA/disability paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients, take vital signs, and record health histories.
• Prepare patients for exams, pap tests, and prenatal ultrasounds.
• Assist providers during exams, minor procedures, and surgeries.
• Educate patients on contraception, prenatal care, and menopause management.
• Perform point-of-care tests (urinalysis, pregnancy tests) and document results.
• Schedule appointments, manage EMR records, and handle patient calls.
• Sterilize medical instruments and stock exam rooms with clinical supplies.
• Support administrative staff with insurance verification and basic billing codes.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance, patient confidentiality, and OSHA safety standards.
