Job summary

North Mississippi Health Services seeks a Unit Coordinator for the OB Emergency Department. The role coordinates nursing unit activities and supports admissions, discharges and communications.

You will handle clerical duties, document management, inventory, and cross-functional coordination to ensure a smooth patient experience. Strong organizational and computer skills are essential, as is a helpful, patient-focused attitude.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of office equipment (i.e. telephones, fax machines, scanners, etc.).
• Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of medical terminology; preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; required.
• Working knowledge of computers; required.
• Must anticipate resources needed and prioritize work assignments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the nursing unit activities to support efficient operation.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers and changes within the unit.
• Manage intake and outbound documents and communications.
• Relays patient requests to appropriate staff and follows up.
• Facilitate and direct communication among visitors, staff and physicians.
• Maintain unit records, logs and reports; assist with budget awareness.
