Job summary

GE Vernova in Hawaii is seeking a Power Plant Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical Technician to maintain, repair, and calibrate on-site systems. You’ll work with transmitters, control valves, switchgear, and MCCs while complying with safety and environmental policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED.
• Minimum 2 years progressively responsible experience in power plant, marine, refinery, or similar industries.
• Proficient in calibration and troubleshooting of Instrumentation
• Experience with repair or replacement of process control instrumentation
• Fundamental knowledge of programmable logic controllers or distributed control systems
• Fundamental knowledge of electrical distribution equipment
• Able to use test instruments for electrical testing and troubleshooting
• Available for call-outs during the week and weekends.
• Willing to learn equipment operation, troubleshooting and repair from Manufacturers Manuals or other information.
• Able to climb ladders and stairs to access equipment installed within the power plant.
• Able to pass a pre-hire background check, drug screening, and physical exam.

• Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Electronics Technology or Electronics Engineering Technology.
• Installation, setup, and troubleshooting of networks and network switches
• Demonstrated knowledge in calibration and troubleshooting of instrumentation with record of success outside of school.
• Experience in Maintenance Management System.
• Experience with troubleshooting and repair without established procedures.
• Knowledge of Modbus concept.
• Familiarization with the National Electrical Code.
• Willing to share knowledge and experience with other technicians in the group.
• Proficient in using computers running Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft programs Word, Excel, etc.
• Flexible, adapts well to changes in scope and schedule.
• Thrives on variety, learning, and cooperation.

• Qualified to operate aerial lift, scissor lift, forklift.
