Job summary

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis is seeking an Apprentice Maintenance Technician to assist with preventative maintenance and repairs on building systems under direct supervision.

You will work alongside the Sr. O&M Specialist on mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, carpentry, or machine servicing, and you should have a high school diploma and a valid driver's license.

The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork to support our health care mission.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assists in performing and overseeing work orders for preventative maintenance and repairs on building systems at an apprentice level.
• Determines the nature of the problem and ensures repairs at an apprentice level are completed in a timely and quality manner.
• Performs apprentice level maintenance incidental to system operations.

A Brief Overview

Working under direct supervision and at an apprentice level, performs service work and preventative maintenance and repairs along side the Sr. O&M Specialist on a specialized building system such as mechanical, electrical / electronic, hydraulics, carpentry or machine servicing. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of a trade, sufficient to deal with basic service and repairs.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Ability to read and write and to communicate orally and in writing with other individuals.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to work from drawings, diagrams, sketches and verbal instructions.
• Ability to organize tasks and maintain control of work flow.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass a DOT background check based on work facility.

Supervision Provided by this Position

There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.

Physical Demands

Occasional work performed outdoors. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations. Occasional travel to other locations. The physical activities of this position may include squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
