We are seeking experienced O&M and Commissioning Technicians to join our team at PCL Solar Constructors Inc. for the construction of utility-scale solar plants.

As an O&M and Commissioning Technician for our Solar District, you will contribute to our team by:

Requirements And Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency of Commissioning, understand construction site safety, and communicate effectively with team members. The requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an O&M and Commissioning Technicians in the construction industry, demonstrating proficiency working with:
    • VOC & polarity testing
    • Insulation Resistance testing
    • Terminating MC4 connections
    • Terminating in combiner boxes
    • Thermal scanning of equipment
    • Working around live equipment
  • Working 40-80 hours per week with overtime
  • Per diem available if meet requirements
  • Valid driver's license
  • Solar experience is an asset.
  • Any certifications specific to electrical or commissioning plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications, ensuring tasks align with project goals.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols and practices, including knowledge of electrical safety basics to avoid hazards near solar installations, given the electrical nature of solar panels.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, essential for coordinating with diverse project teams.
  • Physical ability to work in outdoor conditions, including varying weather, and to lift heavy objects, with potential for long hours in remote or rural locations typical of solar plant sites.
  • Willingness to travel around the US for different projects.
Physical

  • Must comply with PCL’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
  • Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by PCL.
  • Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.)
  • Able to carry 50 lbs. of tools and/or materials. PCL policy requires getting assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
  • Must be able to work a 10 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.).
  • Must work all hours needed at the jobsite and possible weekends with short notice.

Safety/Environment

  • Knowledge solar construction site hazards which may require special precautions and PPE. Knowledge of power generating plant and cement plant hazards and special PPE.
  • Must undertake the appropriate safety/environmental training commensurate with the position and location.
  • Understand and implement lockout/tagout procedures as needed or directed in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to read and understand safety instructions, signs, labels, and permits in English.
