Job summary

Schimenti Construction Company is seeking a Commercial Construction Superintendent for NYC-area projects. You will lead field operations, supervise trades and subcontractors, review plans and specs, and coordinate daily activities to meet project goals.

You will collaborate with Project Managers, Architects, and clients, maintain safety, oversee schedules, and support project close-out and warranty tasks across retail and commercial builds.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Lead Construction Superintendent.
• Experience on short duration retail construction projects preferred (restaurants, hospitality, entertainment).
• OSHA 30 certification required.
• Proficiency in reading commercial construction plans and specs.
• Knowledge of local subcontractor base and managing multiple subs.
• High school diploma required; construction education preferred.
• Ability to work with tools to perform various construction phases.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day field operations and coordinate between trades.
• Lead teams and subcontractors on retail/commercial projects.
• Read and verify architectural/structural drawings and layouts.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Architects, Clients, and representatives.
• Manage schedule with weekly 3-week look-ahead.
• Ensure safety, logs, and submittals compliance; manage close-out and warranty responses.
• Coordinate site testing and inspections; monitor costs and labor
• Attend and participate in weekly project/subcontractor meetings.
