Job summary

Setec Alpha is seeking a Senior Python Consultant based in New York City to support the Equities Core Technology team. You will design and implement scalable post-trade solutions, including trade lifecycle processing and P&L calculations, while building Python services for large-scale data transformations.

You will publish data via Kafka with Avro schemas, collaborate with Middle Office and Operations, and apply modern SDLC practices, including CI/CD, testing, and containerized deployments on

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional Python development in capital markets, hedge fund, fintech or related financial-services environment.
• Experience delivering equity post-trade or trade-capture solutions, including corporate actions, trade lifecycle workflows and P&L calculations.
• Experience building REST services with FastAPI and/or Flask and working with SQL databases in production.
• Experience with Kafka or comparable streaming platforms, including Avro or schema-based event publishing.
• Strong understanding of modern SDLC practices; experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms; knowledge of Angular, TypeScript or Ag-Grid is a plus.
• Experience partnering with Middle Office, Operations and business stakeholders, explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable solutions for trade lifecycle event processing (corporate actions, expiries, post-trade events).
• Build and operate Python-based services for large-scale data transformations, calculations and reconciliations.
• Publish and distribute transaction and P&L data through Kafka using Avro-based schemas and streaming patterns.
• Collaborate with Middle Office, Operations and Core Technology teams on post-trade workflows and requirements.
• Deliver software iteratively with modern engineering practices, including automated testing, code review, CI/CD, orchestration and AI-assisted development tools.
