Job summary

Nucor Warehouse Systems is seeking a Design Intern to support the design team by reviewing drawing standards, install sets, permit sets, and fabrication drawings. You will work with a variety of designers to understand and review client drawings and gain experience drafting for clients.

Safety is emphasized, and interns must be able to demonstrate safety policy adherence and work onsite in Monroe, GA for the duration of the internship. Enrollment in a 4-year college with CAD interest is required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in a 4-year program with an interest in design or CAD drafting.
• Interest in design-based software like AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Maintain good grades and learn through hands-on work in a consulting engineering environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Must work onsite in Monroe, GA for the internship duration.

Responsibilities

• Support the design team in reviewing drawing standards, install sets, permit sets, and fabrication drawings.

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Warehouse Systems is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Design Intern. The responsibilities for this role include, and are not limited to, supporting the design team in reviewing drawing standards, install sets, permit sets, and fabrication drawings. The Design intern will get the opportunity to work with a variety of designers and detailers to understand and review client drawings. This position allows an entry level designer to gain experience drafting a variety of drawings for clients along with understanding how to read them.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate in a 4 year-college or university with an interest in design or CAD drafting or relevant discipline.
• Students should have an interest in design-based software like AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Maintain high grades in their studies, interested in learning through hands-on work experience in a consulting engineering environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
• Must be work onsite in Monroe, GA for the internship duration.
• Must be able to successfully meet the company’s pre-employment drug screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using AutoCAD and Inventor design software.
• Ability to understand fabrication, construction or architectural drawings.
