Job summary

Sunshine Retirement Living is seeking a dedicated cook to join our Food Services team, ensuring nutritious, appetizing meals for residents while following approved menus and portion controls. Prepare meals per community recipes, maintain sanitation standards, and work with staff to deliver timely, resident-centered service in a friendly retirement setting.

Qualified applicants should have a High School diploma, Culinary Arts degree or two years of institutional cooking, plus strong English

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Culinary Arts Degree or two years’ experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking preferred
• Ability to read and prepare recipes as provided by the company
• Knowledge of Food Service sanitation practices
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with residents and staff
• Ability to work with little supervision and maintain performance and customer service

Responsibilities

• Review menus and daily food production worksheets for instructions
• Prepare meals following community menus and recipes
• Practice portion-control standards
• Follow safe food-handling and storage procedures
• Ensure food, supplies, and appropriate personnel are available for meals
• Serve nutritious food, attractively garnished, in a punctual manner
• Follow procedures for labeling, dating, and storing food and complete leftover logs
• Ensure temperature logs are completed on schedule
• Maintain sanitation standards across all kitchen areas
• Focus on resident satisfaction and resolve food-complaint issues as needed
• Assist with setup of special functions
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
• May be assigned to other job functions on a relief basis
