mBIOTA Labs is seeking a Nutritional Sales Specialist to grow our West Coast provider network, educating gastroenterologists, dietitians, and clinicians to recommend mBIOTA Elemental.
You will manage outreach via video, phone, and HubSpot, spend 1–2 days weekly in Southern California, and travel for key accounts and conferences. Reports to CEO; collaborate with Partnerships, marketing, and clinical teams.
Employment type Full-time employee Department Sales Work location Remote Compensation $85,000 – $100,000 annually
Final compensation will depend on the location and level at which the candidate is hired
mBIOTA Labs is a clinically backed, women-owned and led medical nutrition startup on a mission to transform how people think about – and treat – digestive health. Our flagship product, mBIOTA Elemental, is a medical food used under the supervision of healthcare providers.
Our product sits at the intersection of healthcare, science, and consumer experience. We don't sell like a pharmaceutical company, and we don't look like a typical supplement brand. We move quickly, learn constantly, and operate with a high degree of ownership and collaboration.
We're looking for a Nutritional Sales Specialist to grow mBIOTA's provider community across the West Coast. Your goal is simple: get mBIOTA Elemental into the hands of the patients who need it, by educating gastroenterologists, functional and integrative practitioners, registered dietitians, and other clinicians until they recommend it to their patients as a regular part of their practice.
This is a digital-first role, but not a digital-only one. Much of your week happens on video calls, by phone, and in HubSpot, reaching providers across six states. But some relationships are built in the room: a lunch-and-learn with a busy GI practice, a taste test with a clinical team, or a face-to-face visit with a high-value account. You’ll typically spend one to two days a week in person in Southern California or elsewhere in the territory, plus regional and national conferences. The best people in this role know when a digital touchpoint is enough and when it’s worth showing up.
This role reports to the CEO and works closely with the Director of Strategic Partnerships & Business Development, the broader sales team, and clinical and marketing teams.
Build and grow the West Coast provider base
Prospect proactively: cold call practices across CA, OR, WA, NV, AZ, and HI that don't know mBIOTA yet, qualify them, and keep following up until you get the conversation
Turn new contacts into active, recommending providers, and expand usage within existing accounts
Prioritize high-value targets and manage a call cycle that blends virtual and in-person touches
Build a quarterly territory plan with leadership, and adjust it as the data comes in
Sell digitally, first
Run most provider meetings over video and phone, with confidence and polish on camera
Host virtual lunch-and-learns, in-services, and small-group webinars for practices and clinical teams
Manage contacts in HubSpot for prospecting, follow-up, and re-engaging dormant accounts
Coordinate sample and taste-test shipments, then follow up on results
Show up in person where it counts
Spend 1–2 days a week with high-value practices in Southern California: office visits, lunch-and-learns, and taste tests
Travel periodically to key accounts throughout the territory and staff select conferences and provider events
Own the pipeline in HubSpot
Log every interaction, outcome, and next step in HubSpot the same day
Keep contacts, deals, and forecasts accurate so leadership can trust the numbers
Use HubSpot reporting to spot trends, prioritize accounts, and tell us what's working
Support your accounts
Serve as the go-to contact for West Coast provider accounts: product questions, ordering, patient onboarding resources, and inbound requests
Route patient-level customer service to our customer experience team and close the loop with the provider
Bring the field back to the team
Share provider feedback, objections, and competitive insight with sales, marketing, and clinical teams
Partner with marketing on provider-facing materials and campaigns
Promote mBIOTA products only within approved, compliant messaging and complete all required training
Every day: run your HubSpot sequences and task queue, follow up one-to-one with providers who engage, and log every touch the same day
Most days: a virtual meeting or presentation with a practice, plus a block of cold calls to new practices and follow-up calls or emails to providers in your pipeline
1–2 days a week: in person with high-value practices in Southern California or elsewhere within territory, as appropriate
Monthly or quarterly: a virtual lunch-and-learn or webinar, and travel to key accounts or a regional conference elsewhere in the territory
You'll be measured on outcomes, not call counts. Each quarter, you and leadership will agree on goals across three areas:
New active providers: West Coast HCPs newly recommending mBIOTA Elemental, and returning to recommend it again
Patient orders: orders attributed to your providers through referral codes, links, and HubSpot tracking
Quarterly priorities: goals set together with leadership, such as a target account list, regional conference attendance, or a new market within the territory
First 90 days: learn the product, the clinical story, and our HubSpot workflows; take over existing West Coast accounts; build your territory plan and target list.
First 6–12 months: a growing base of active, repeat-recommending providers across the territory; a predictable pipeline in HubSpot; and a virtual education program providers look forward to attending.
3-5 years in provider-facing sales, clinical nutrition, or medical education, ideally in medical nutrition, GI, or functional medicine
Comfortable working digital-first: you run a great video meeting, host a webinar, and build relationships you rarely see in person
Equally at ease in a busy medical office, presenting to a clinical team over lunch
Hands-on CRM experience required; HubSpot strongly preferred (sequences, deals, tasks, reporting)
Able to learn and explain clinical and scientific information accurately and simply; clinical nutrition background a plus
Self-directed and organized; you plan your own week across six states and multiple touchpoint channels
A true go-getter: comfortable cold calling both via phone and digital touchpoints, getting past gatekeepers, handling objections, and turning a first conversation into a lasting relationship
We prefer this candidate be based in Los Angeles or Southern California, but willing to interview candidates in the broader West Coast territory
Able to travel within the territory and to conferences, including occasional overnight travel; valid driver's license
Bonus points if you: have an existing network of GI, functional, or integrative providers on the West Coast; have hosted provider education programs; have startup or DTC healthcare experience.
Base salary of $85,000-$100,000, depending on experience and fit
Quarterly performance incentive tied to goals agreed with leadership
Medical, dental, and vision insurance
401(k) with employer match
Unlimited PTO
Monthly stipend for car, cell phone, and internet
Travel expenses covered for conferences and approved overnight trips
A seat close to leadership at a growing company changing how digestive health is treated
