Salary Range: USD $23.00/Hr.

Overview:

This role requires an outgoing personality and passion for sharing nutrition knowledge and inspiring people to act and achieve their health goals. You’ll wear many hats while working in a fast-paced retail setting conducting classes, private coaching sessions, community outreach, and retail operations (e.g., customer service, stocking shelves, cleaning, etc.). As the store’s nutrition professional, you will act as an educational resource providing science-based nutrition education/training to the store crew, customers, and the community. This position is a front-line contributor to the Natural Grocers mission and plays an integral role in helping Natural Grocers improve the health and wellbeing of our communities. Through providing free nutrition education and helping people understand why their food choices matter, you will contribute to Natural Grocers' commitment to creating a sustainable, just, and regenerative food system where humans, animals, and the earth can thrive.

Responsibilities:

1. Acts as the nutrition education resource for customers, crew, and community.
2. Provides customer service in the vitamin aisles, assisting with product purchases and education.
3. Performs retail operations such as maintaining customer literature files, managing the book department, stocking and facing products, cleaning, and merchandising.
4. Provides nutrition education through in-store classes, outreach, and trainings; maintains the Crew Wellness Board; motivates crew participation in nutrition challenges; responds to questions and reviews summaries.
5. Provides private one-on-one health coaching sessions.
6. Builds community relationships with practitioner partners, guest presenters, and event partners.
7. Seeks outreach opportunities to provide nutrition education and build brand awareness.
8. Maintains continuing education requirements by reviewing research and completing CE assignments.
9. Assists management with organizing and executing company events.
10. Handles printing and ordering of educational materials and supplies.
11. Trains crew on promoting NHC services, in-store events, and promotions.
12. Attends monthly webinars and calls.
13. Acts as an event ambassador during in-store guest presenter classes.
14. Performs any other duties necessary to support the team and company goals.

Qualifications:

1. Degree or certification in nutrition or a related field (e.g., dietetics, biology, biochemistry, naturopathy).
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
3. Excellent public speaking and communication skills.
4. Ability to engage customers and promote events and services.
5. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
6. Self-motivated with good time management.
7. Ability to work well in a team and accept feedback.
8. Motivated to grow knowledge and skills.
9. Comfortable working in retail operations (stocking, cleaning, etc.).
10. Friendly, outgoing, and approachable demeanor.

Maintaining Nutrition Knowledge:

If continuing education is required for your certification, it must be fulfilled. If not, maintaining 16 CE hours per year is necessary.
