Job summary

Trinity Health in Grand Rapids seeks a Nutrition Services Supervisor to oversee patient and visitor meals, supervise colleagues, and ensure safety, quality, and presentation of food. Evening shift, opportunities for schedule adjustments.

The role includes staff training, interviewing and hiring support, performance management, and coordinating meal service with diet office, tray assembly and delivery, while upholding hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in nutrition, hotel/restaurant, institutional management, business or related field.
• ServeSafe Certification within 6 months of hire (Includes Allergens).
• Three years of food service experience.
• Preferred: three years of food service leadership in a health care setting; one year cooking in an institutional setting.

• Responsible for organizational and talent effectiveness functions including interviewing, hiring, counseling, and performance management.
• Ensures patient services colleagues are supported with necessary tools.
• Coordinates patient meal service including diet office, tray assembly, tray delivery and dish room functions.
• Adheres to unit, departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
• Maintains open dialogue with Director, managers, dietitians, supervisors, nursing, and support services staff.

Hours | schedule:

• Minimum80 hoursper pay period
• Primary 11am to 7:30pm shift with flexible shifts as needed
• Every other weekend
• Rotating holidays

Position purpose:

Supervises assembly, preparation and service provided by Nutrition Services Colleagues to patients, staff andvisitors. Assists in the supervision of general department operations including main kitchen, cafeteria, dish room andsanitation. Responsible for both process improvement and quality control. Facilitates the selection, training and skilldevelopment of all Patient Services colleagues. Communicates daily with coworkers and other team members toensure that food is served in a safe and attractive manner that results in high customer satisfaction as it pertains totaste, temperature, and presentation.

Minimum qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree in Nutrition, Hotel, Restaurant, Institution Management, Business or related field orequivalent combination of education/training/experience.
• ServeSafe Certifications within 6 months of hire date. (Includes Allergens)

What the Nutrition Services Supervisor will do:

• Maintains open dialogue with Director (GM), managers, dietitians, supervisors, nursing, and support services staffregarding all aspects of patient meal service.
• Implements all THS FANS policies as they are rolled out.
