Job summary

Akinfamily is seeking a Food Services Specialist to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for children in our Early Learning Programs. You will collaborate with the nutritionist, follow CACFP and USDA guidelines, and ensure proper recordkeeping and safety in food handling.

The role involves preparing meals to CACFP standards, promoting family-style dining, and supporting nutrition education efforts for staff and families. A strong focus on inclusivity and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• One to four years professional cooking experience.
• Experience working with families from culturally diverse low-income populations.
• Experience with the USDA regulations.
• Proof of physical exam within past 12 months (updated every three years).
• TB skin test within past 12 months (or documented proof of treatment/negative chest x-ray).
• Proof of MMR vaccine or positive MMR titer.
• Criminal history background check including MERIT fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Follow health and agency procedures on safe food handling and storage.
• Plan menus with CACFP guidelines and nutrition considerations.
• Plan food purchases using USDA guidelines and maintain invoices and records.
• Prepare food to CACFP meal pattern requirements for each age group.
• Serve family-style dining and engage children during meals.
• Provide nutrition education and support CMA guidelines with relevant staff.
