Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Nutrition Services Manager to lead the Nutrition Services Department, directing policy, budgeting, purchasing, staff development and safety practices to support patients, staff and guests.

You will oversee cafeteria operations, menu development, and food preparation coordination, while ensuring HACCP compliance and high-quality service in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Certified Dietary Manager or Dietetic Technician registration as required by state.
• Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as needed.
• Associate degree in food service or equivalent preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of nutrition, dietetics, HACCP guidelines, and hospital food service operations.
• Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in healthcare food service.
• Strong communication, analytical and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage departmental budget related to the Nutrition Services position.
• Handle purchasing, receiving, and inventory control of food and supplies.
• Maintain sanitation, temperatures, and handling per regulations.
• Determine quantity and portion sizes, ensuring proper handling of food.
• Ensure adequate staffing and manage department personnel.
• Coordinate production for patient meals and cafeteria lines.
• Develop cafeteria menus as needed.
• Purchase food and assign duties for special needs or occasions.

• Manage Departmental budget as it relates to position.
• Perform and document all purchasing, receiving, and inventory control of food and supplies.
• Maintain proper sanitation, temperature, and food handling techniques to comply with regulations.
• Determine quality, quantity and portion size of food required and ensure proper handling of food.

• Ensure production for both patient meals and cafeteria line are properly coordinated.

Qualifications

• Certified Dietary Manager or Dietetic Technician registration with Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, if required by state or regulatory agency.
• Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, if mandated by state or regulatory agency.
• Graduate of an associate degree program in food service preferred.
• Must have thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietetics, administration, and operation of hospital food services, and knowledge of all H.A.C.C.P. guidelines.
• Three years of supervisory experience in food service, preferably within healthcare.
• Strong communication, analytical, decision-making, and independent work skills.
