Job summary

Encompass Health Corporation is seeking a Nutrition Service Supervisor to coordinate and direct the Nutrition Services Department, guiding cafeteria management, food preparation, budgeting, purchasing, staff development and safety practices.

You will support the Nutrition Service Manager, oversee inventory controls, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with other departments to meet dietary needs for patients, staff and guests.

Qualifications

• CDM certification or Dietetic Technician/AND registration as required by state or regulatory agency.
• Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics if mandated.
• Graduate of an associate degree program in food service preferred.
• Knowledge of nutrition, dietetics, HACCP guidelines, and hospital food service operations.

Responsibilities

• Supports Nutrition Service Manager in the absence.
• Performs purchasing, receiving and inventory control of food and supplies.
• Maintains sanitation and proper temperatures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintains correct food handling techniques to ensure compliance.
• Determines quality, quantity and portion size of food required.
• Ensures production for patient meals and cafeteria line is coordinated.
• Ensures proper handling of cash/tickets and reports.
• Coordinates dietetic services with other departments.
• Purchases food and assists with duties for special needs or occasions.
• Ensures in-service education meetings are held and courses are completed.

• Supports Nutrition Service Manager in absence.
• Performs and documents all purchasing, receiving and inventory control of food and supplies.
• Maintains sanitation and proper temperatures to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
• Maintains correct food handling techniques to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
• Determines quality (taste/temperature/appearance), quantity, and portion size of food required.
• Ensures production for both patient meals and cafeteria line are properly coordinated.
• Ensures proper handling of cash/tickets and cash/ticket reports.
• Coordinates dietetic services with other departments.
• Purchases food; assists with and assigns duties for special needs or special occasions.
• Ensures in-service education meetings are held and courses are completed as required by company.

Qualifications

• Certified Dietary Manager or Dietetic Technician registration with Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, if required by state or regulatory agency.
• Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, if mandated by state or regulatory agency.
• Graduate of an associate degree program in food service preferred.
• Must have thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietetics, administration, and operation of hospital food services, and knowledge of all H.A.C.C.P. guidelines.
• Two years of healthcare food service experience, preferably in a supervisory role
